At the same time\, augmented reality (AR) technology\, which combines physical objects with digital visualizati ons\, is becoming increasingly applicable for makerspace activities and ha s potential to address challenges for student learning. However\, there is a lack of understanding of what makes this technology effective or ineffe ctive for makerspace education\, and the practical and systemic challenges of integrating it in existing makerspace settings. In this talk I will pr esent lessons learned from multiple research projects that used augmented reality to enhance student learning\, collaboration\, and co-creation in m akerspaces\, specifically in the contexts of learning physics\, robotics\, computer science and electronics education.\n\n \n\nBio:\n\nDr. Iulian Ra du is a former Principal Research Scientist at Harvard University's Gradua te School of Education\, currently on a spiritual sabbatical. His work int ersects immersive design and educational innovation\, focusing on makerspa ces\, AR/VR collaborative learning\, embodied cognition\, empathy\, and im mersive software / hardware engineering. His recent work at Harvard Univer sity explored AR/VR for collaborative education in maker spaces (part of H GSE Learning\, Innovation and Technology Lab)\, and VR for empathy and bia s training (part of HGSE Immersion Lab). He has previously led research in itiatives on co-design\, children\, and educational technology while colla borating with organizations such as PBS KIDS\, MIT\, Samsung Research\, Qu alcomm\, and WestEd Research. Iulian holds a Ph.D. from Georgia Institute of Technology\, and a B.Sc.Hons. from University of British Columbia.
