We consider a two-stage game where a monopolist makes pricing and env ironmental quality investment in the first stage and competes with an entr ant in the second stage. The incumbent is a green firm and does not overra te the environmental quality of its product\, while the entrant may be tem pted by greenwashing. We assume that only inexperienced consumers\, that i s\, consumers who did not purchase the product in the first period\, can b e lured by greenwashing. Consequently\, our model captures two important d ynamic features\, namely\, the change in the competitive structure\, and t he presence of a 'learning' effect in the market. We investigate the condi tions that make greenwashing profitable for the entrant\, how the incumben t responds to greenwashing\, and the impact of greenwashing on the environ ment and customers.\n\n (Joint work with Arka Mukherjee and Georges Zaccour .)\n \n\n DTSTART:20230420T150000Z DTEND:20230420T160000Z LOCATION:CA\, ZOOM SUMMARY:Strategic Pricing and Investment in Environmental Quality by an Inc umbent Facing a Greenwasher Entrant URL:/cim/channels/event/strategic-pricing-and-investme nt-environmental-quality-incumbent-facing-greenwasher-entrant-351723 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
