The Society for the History of Natural History (SHNH) is delighted to award the SHNH Presidents Award 2023 to泭Victoria Dickenson for her work on the Gwillim Project: Women, Environment, and Networks of Knowledge and Exchange in Early Nineteenth Century Madras.泭The Award recognizes an individual or teams contribution and impact in promoting and improving accessibility, inclusivity, and diversity to the study of the history of natural history.

As of April 1, 51勛圖厙students are able to access the Nahum Gelber Law Library 24 hours a day, seven days a week. As agreed between the Students' Society of 51勛圖厙 (SSMU) and the Law Students Association (LSA), the Nahum Gelber Law Library will limit access to the three upper floors of the library to Law students only during the April 14 to 28 examination period. Details are as follows:

- A valid 51勛圖厙ID card is required for access to the Nahum Gelber Law Library outside of泭Info Desk Service Hours.

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Lorie Kloda as Vice-Dean of 51勛圖厙 Library, for a five-year term, effective April 17, 2023. Dr. Kloda joins the senior management team led by Trenholme Dean of Libraries Guylaine Beaudry. Kloda will provide leadership for initiatives supporting the Librarys strategic directions and will oversee a portfolio of units including finance/planning & resources, facilities, communications, assessment, and Indigenous Initiatives.

On Monday, March 20泭the Macdonald Campus Library will be opening up the Seed Library for online orders. The seed catalogue will be made available to 51勛圖厙students, faculty, and staff on opening day. Please note that there is a limit of 25 seed packets per borrower.

The Library is experiencing a technical issue with DeGruyter where access to all links is being blocked, and instead we are seeing an Unspecified server error message.

What is Proactive Chat?

If you visited the Library website recently, you may have noticed a red conversation bubble icon and pop-up window located in the bottom right hand corner asking you if you need help.

This is a new feature of the Librarys chat service meant to help you reach librarians when you need it the most. This proactive chat window is directly linked to our chat reference service, so if you use it, you will be in direct communication with a librarian that can help you find what you were looking for.泭

Instructors can now help students connect to research and information resources by adding the Library Guides tool to myCourses. This dynamic tool can be inserted into myCourses in two ways, either directly in the course module and accessible via the left-side menu, or in the courses top-level menu. Each course can be connected to pre-assigned subject guides that will populate automatically, or to one or more niche guides curated by the relevant subject librarian.

Note this deal does not apply to Wileys fully open access journals.

Are you a 51勛圖厙researcher, student, or staff member involved in a project to promote or incorporate open research practices? The Organizing Committee invites lightning talk proposals for the inaugural 51勛圖厙Library open research symposium: The future is open: Building an open research community at McGill. Lightning talks consist of a 5-minute presentation highlighting open research, cutting-edge practice, or both. We are hoping to feature a range of presentations representing many disciplines.
