The Health and Social Services Community Leadership Bursary Program continues to grow each year. In order to measure the programs impact and to ensure that it is fulfilling its primary mission (better access for English-speaking communities in Quebec to healthcare and social services in their own language), the management of Dialogue 51勛圖厙has commissioned Dr. Marie-Pierre Gagnon, a professor in the Faculty of Nursing at lUniversit矇 Laval, to conduct follow-up surveys twice annually with both the bursary recipients and their sponsoring community networks.

The Health Care Access for Linguistic Minoritie (HCALM)-Network will hold its 2017 annual conference on the topic of language and health ethical and policy issues in September 28-30. The conference will bring together theories, frameworks, concepts and methods from a broad range of disciplines in the medical sciences, social sciences and the humanities. It will address the significant ethical and policy issues at the interface of public health and language (including sign language) policy, broadly interpreted.
Mastering documentation is one of the pathways to translation excellence. Mastering it in more than one language is an added value. Such is the case for Cheryl Smeall, who is the 2017 recipient of the 51勛圖厙Associates Prize in Translation (French-English). Dr. Smeall received this distinction at the spring graduation ceremony when she was awarded a Certificate in Translation in the French to English option.
What better way to become an experienced translator than to work ones way up from the bottom. H矇l癡ne Roulston is living proof of the adage that one becomes a good translator by producing good translations and having the knowledge base to produce quality work. That sums up H矇l癡ne Roulstons recipe for success. She is the 2017 recipient of the 51勛圖厙Associates Prize in Translation (English-French).
Dr. Liliane Asseraf Pasin was selected as one of the winners of this year's泭51勛圖厙Awards for Equity and Community Building, in part for her Dialogue McGill- funded project泭Improving Access to Practice for English-Speaking Internationally-Trained 泭Physical Therapists.泭泭See a泭link to the full story .

Professor Jeffrey Bergthorson in the Department of Mechanical Engineering has been named the first Panda Faculty Scholar in Sustainable Engineering and Design at the Trottier Institute for Sustainability in Engineering and Design (TISED). Also recently appointed Associate Director of TISED, Prof Bergthorson began a 3-year term in both roles on January 1, 2015.
The Award Processing Support Service team has received many requests to send emails to service (generic) email accounts when communicating about a specific BSA award issue.泭 As the use of generic email accounts has become a best practice across many faculties and departments, regular communications to and from these accounts has become the norm.泭
Student Accounts has established the procedure for dealing with unclaimed awards from Student fee accounts and uncollectable charges resulting from award cancellations. Although these cases are very rare, a procedure is necessary in order to handle these issues when they occur.
