The initiatives will encourage students and members of the 51Թcommunity to participate in discussions\, workshops\, and networking opportunities that will allow them to explore sustainable development in their own futures and careers. \n\nCreated in partnership with the Career Planning Service\, the Engineer ing Career Centre\, and the Soutar Career Centre of Desautels\n\n\nVirtual Keynote + Q&A\n November 2\, 201\n 9:00 am - 10:00 am\n RSVP through myFutur e\n\nTo inaugurate the beginning of the Bicentennial’s Sustainability Care er Days\, we will welcome 51ԹAlumna Dr. Chantal Line Carpentier\, who currently serves as the Chief for the United Nations Conference on Trade a nd Development (UNCTAD) New York office of the Secretary-General. Dr. Carp entier played an important role in the negotiations leading up to the crea tion of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). In her keynote\, she will discuss how the SDGs play an–ever increasing role globally\, includi ng within economic sectors\, industries\, and individual companies and org anizations.\n\n\nSustainability Development Goals Workshop \n November 2\, 2021\n 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm\n RSVP through myFuture\n\nIn order to familiarize students with the tools for success that they need to launch a career in s ustainability\, the student-led 51ԹSDG Hub will be partnering with the Bicentennial in order to facilitate a workshop for students as part of th e Career Days. Led by Geneva Yang\, this workshop will cover everything fr om the most important applications of the 17 SDGs for a career in sustaina bility\, to ways by which students can become involved with sustainability initiatives on campus.\n\n\nPrinciples and Tools Needed to Succeed in a S ustainable Development Career + Q&A \n November 2\, 2021\n 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm \n RSVP through myFuture\n\nAs the third and final component of the Novembe r 2nd Career days offerings\, a panel on incorporating sustainability with in career trajectories will be offered. In the discussion\, 51Թalumni working in sustainability will speak about their insights regarding the to ols\, expertise\, and abilities needed to thrive in a sustainability-relat ed career. 51Թstudents who choose to watch the event in live time via Zoom will have the opportunity to take part in the discussion by asking qu estions and sharing their own experiences in the subsequent Question and A nswer period.\n\n\nAlumni Networking Event \n November 3\, 2021\n 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm\n\nStudent Registration: You will be required to register for the Alumni Networking Event in order to book a 1:1 with an alumni\, registrati on opens on October 25.  Register at:  https://mcgill-sustainability-caree r-day.eventus.io/\n\nOn the second day of the Career Days event\, the McGi ll community will re-welcome a series of 51Թalumni who have gone on to embark on careers in sustainability back to campus via the virtual fair p latform “EventUs”. During the event\, students interested in sustainabilit y will have the chance to interact\, ask questions with\, and seek advice from alumni working in the field.
