2025 Award Recipients

The Faculty of Arts Internship Office is pleased to announce that 153 students received over $736,000 as recipients of the 2025 Faculty of Arts Internship Awards.Congratulations to all the recipients and many thanks to all of our generous donors!


Allan A. Hodgson Arts Internship Award

Maya MacCorquodale, U2, Anthropologyand Philosophy

Maya is a second-year student pursuing anthropology with minors in field studies and philosophy. Amongst other topics, she is interested in the complex dynamics surrounding conservation, extraction and territorial rights. This summer, she will be interning at the Center for Indigenous Conservation and Development (CICADA). Under the mentorship of legal anthropologist Dr. Viviane Weitzner, she will provide editorial support for an upcoming special issue being published by the Canadian Journal of Law and Society.

Henry Maidoh, U2, Honours Political Science

Henry Maidoh is a Nigerian British-born Canadian and an aspiring international lawyer pursuing an Honours degree in Political Science with a minor in International Development at 51Թ. With a strong foundation in policy research, advocacy, and nonprofit work, he is deeply committed to tackling structural and social inequities. Henry has gained experience at Dentons law firm, served as a Youth Delegate to the United Nations through MYAD, and currently serves as Vice-President Academic for ASSA. This summer, he will be interning with the Ghana Centre for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana).

Mariana Monsalve Orozco, U0, Political Science and Sociology

Mariana will be interning this summer at the Legal Information Clinic of the Immigrant Workers Center (IWC) in Montreal. The IWC is a community organization that defends the rights of immigrant workers through popular education, advocacy, and grassroots mobilization. Mariana is excited to contribute to the legal aid services of the IWC as a caseworker and assist with facilitating workshops on labor and immigration rights, expanding her understanding of the needs of migrant communities in Montreal.


Armando and Ann Manfredi Arts Internship Award

Alexander Harshbarger, U1, Political Science

Alex Harshbarger is a U1 Political Science student passionate about human rights and criminal justice advocacy. This summer, he will work at the Fortune Society in New York City as a Parole Outreach Intern. In this role, he will work within the criminal justice system, screening cases, engaging with key legal stakeholders, and advocating for alternatives to incarceration. From this opportunity, Alex hopes to gain a practical foundation for understanding procedural justice and the barriers faced by justice-impacted individuals.


Andrew Buntain Arts Internship Award

Boucher Alexandre, U2, Honours Art History

Alexandre Onézime Raymond Boucher (he/him) is a second-year Honours student in Art History with a minor in Gender Studies and Feminist Studies. Upon completing his bachelor’s degree, he will continue his studies at HEC, pursuing a Master’s in the Management of Cultural Institutions. Alexandre aims to contribute to the Montreal art world, with a focus on gallery management and contemporary art dealing. This summer, he will be interning with the Montreal-based contemporary art gallery,McBride Contemporain.


Archie Malloch Undergraduate Internships in Public Learning

Ineshka Hettiarachchi, U2, Psychology

Ineshka Hettiarachchi is a third-year student at 51Թ, pursuing a major in Psychology and a double minor in Behavioural Science and Hispanic Studies. She will be interning at the Kabir Centre for Arts & Culture, tasked with promoting the South Asian Film Festival of Montreal (SAFFM) and researching Canadian filmmakers of South Asian Diaspora. Ineshka is looking forward to combining her passion for Canadian social justice issues with her academic studies to contribute to cross-cultural understanding via cinema.

Gaïna Clara Paul, U2, Honours Sociology

Clara is a second-year student at McGill, completing her Honours Degree in Sociology with a minor in Indigenous Studies. She has an interest in decolonization practices, multiculturalism and Queer politics. This summer, she will intern at the Teesri Duniya Theatre in Montreal. There, she will study cultural plurality and intercultural plays in post-modern Quebec. She will also document Teesri Duniya Theatre’s history of representation, diversity, and decolonization. Clara is eager to learn more about community theatre in Montreal!


Arts Students Employment Fund Award

Alexandra Agosta-Lyon, U1, Honours History

Alexandra is a rising third-year student pursuing an Honours History major and minoring in Political Science and Philosophy. This summer, she will intern with the Women’s Art Society of Montreal, where she will help design a community art initiative for patients at the Montreal Children’s Hospital. Alexandra is looking forward to gaining experience in nonprofit operations, budgeting, and cultural programming while deepening her understanding of women’s activism and the role of art in community care.

Paige Metcalf, U1, Political Science and Sociology

Paige is currently finishing her second-year student at 51Թ double majoring in Political Science and Sociology. This summer, she will be interning with The Women’s Network, a national organization dedicated to empowering college women through professional development. In her role, Paige will support outreach and engagement strategies to expand the organization’s campus presence. This opportunity will allow her to apply her academic knowledge of gender and institutions while building leadership, communication, and project management skills..

Isabella Solano, U3, Political Science

Isabella is a third-year Political Science and Social Entrepreneurship student at 51Թ with a passion for community empowerment and social justice. This summer, she is interning with Maison des Amériques, a Montréal-based organization that supports the Latin American community in Québec through culture and social economy initiatives. Isabella will support the development of La Llave, a social entrepreneurship program for Latin American entrepreneurs in Québec. Through outreach, strategy, and mentorship, Isabella is working to foster economic inclusion and cultural exchange. She looks forward to applying her academic background to advance equity-driven entrepreneurship in Quebec.

Jade Herz,U1, English

Jade will be interning at Quixotic Endeavors, a documentary production company based in New York. During her internship, she will assist with editing, production research, and digital content creation across multiple projects. She hopes to deepen her understanding of storytelling in nonfiction film and develop practical skills for a career in media. Actively involved in McGill’s student film scene, Jade is excited to bring her experience back to campus this fall.


Arts Undergraduate Improvement Fund (AUIF) Internship Award

Charlett Caro-Borioni,U3, Mathematics

Charlett Caro-Borioni has just finished her third year at McGill, pursuing a major in math with minors in philosophy and Italian studies. This summer, she will be interning at Vision Méditerranéenne a partner of the Italian contemporary film festival. This opportunity will allow her to deepen her understanding of Italian culture while learning how to handle the logistics of a business that works with a wide variety of organizations.

Tristan Hernandez, U3, Honours Political Science

Tristan Hernandez is a Political Science student in the Faculty of Arts at McGill. They are pursuing the Honours track and have research interests in theories of nationalism, Indigenous political theory and Middle Eastern politics. They are currently conducting research into alternative pedagogies as political praxis, whereby community-led education and mutual aid initiatives work as vehicles for political change. They plan to continue their studies at an institution in Canada after completing the undergraduate program. This summer, they will be interning withÉduconnexion in Montreal.

Hannah Moghaddar, U1, English

Hannah is finishing her second year in English Cultural Studies with a minor in Gender, Sexuality, Feminist, and Social Justice Studies. This summer, she will be an Outreach and Engagement Intern at CKUT 90.3 FM, merging her passions for arts accessibility, music, and writing. She's thrilled to help promote the annual funding drive, report on cultural events in Montréal for the blog, support summer festival planning, and lead a mini-workshop as her final project.

Romane Musquet, U3, Computer Science and Cultural Studies

Romane will be working as a Communications and Logistics Intern at the Italian Contemporary Film Festival in Montréal this summer. This internship will be an exciting opportunity for her to contribute to the organization of a major cultural event and see it come to life. She looks forward to gaining hands-on experience in event coordination and hopes to further develop her skills in communication, marketing and cultural promotion.

Alexia Angelina Santoro McGeorge , U3, Liberal Arts

Alexia Santoro McGeorge is a third-year student in Liberal Arts and World Islamic and Middle Eastern Studies. This summer, she will be interning at The Upstream Journal, a Montreal-based magazine focused on human rights and social justice. Her work will involve research, interviews, writing and editing articles, as well as recording a podcast episode. She looks forward to learning from others and creating thoughtful pieces that bring forward the voices and stories central to her research.

Sasha Utkina, U2, Political Science and International Development Studies

Sasha is a U2 Political Science and International Development student at 51Թ with experience in event coordination, mentoring, and refugee support. She is interested in education, community engagement, and social impact, and has workedwith diverse communities. This summer, she will be interning at the Participatory Cultures Lab (PCL). Sasha enjoys finding creative ways to connect people and contribute to meaningful initiatives. She is also interested in research on Eastern Europe, particularly questions of identity, memory, and post-socialist transformation.

Serena Zhang, U3,East Asian Studies and Political Science

Serena Zhang is a fourth-year student studying East Asian Studies and Political Science. This summer, Serena will be working at the JIA Foundation, a registered non-profit organization in Québec with a mandate to protect and promote the cultural heritage of Montréal’s Chinatown. She is greatly looking forward to helping foster Chinatown’s cultural heritage through education, space activation, and community-driven approaches to real estate with the organization.

Cypress Zufferli, U2, Linguistics

Cypress Zufferli is a third-year student double majoring in Linguistics and Chemistry. They have always had a passion for theatre and especially teaching as their goal is to teach high school chemistry. They are thrilled to intern at the Geordie Theatre School this summer and cannot wait to work with the staff and students there. They believe that having a creative outlet is one of the most important things in life and are excited to foster that in the students at the Geordie Theatre School.  


Brenda and Morrison Hurley Arts Internship Award

Jasmine Zhao, U2, International Development Studies and Psychology

Jasmine Zhao is a second-year 51Թ student pursuing a dual degree in International Development Studies and Psychology. This summer, she will intern at Tsinghua University’s Institute of International Relations, supporting the 13th Annual World Peace Forum as a facilitator of diplomatic coordination, international press relations, and conference logistics. Through her interdisciplinary perspective, she will contribute to meaningful multilateral engagement while supporting the participation of global leaders, diplomats, scholars, and dignitaries in this premier peacebuilding initiative.


Bryce Internship Award

Farane Zaidi, M1, School of Information Studies

Farane will be interning with the 78th Fraser Highlanders historical association in Montréal this summer. She brings a deep passion for historical preservation and a strong interest in military history, which complement her growing theoretical knowledge of archival work. Farane is incredibly excited to contribute to the conservation of Canadian heritage through this role and looks forward to gaining hands-on experience in a field she deeply admires, supporting her development as a future information professional.


Carol and Lloyd Darlington Arts Internship Award

CharlotteAlarie, U1, Geography, Urban Studies

Charlotte is a second year student majoring in Urban Studies. This summer, she will be serving as the Marketing & Outreach Intern at Regent Park Film Festival. She’s grateful to be supporting RPFF’s outreach efforts by building and nurturing relationships with local organizations, helping to make community arts more accessible and inclusive for all.

Annie DeCoteau Vogelsang , U3, History

Annie DeCoteau Vogelsang is a U3 student majoring in History with a minor in European Literature and Culture. This summer, Annie will be working for The Bentway, a Toronto based non-profit dedicated to transforming underutilized urban areas into shared spaces
that bring communities together. Passionate about arts, culture, and the importance of building community, Annie is excited to contribute to The Bentway’s project of innovation for the city she grew up in.

Georgina Kouwenhoven, U1, Joint Honours History and Environment

Georgina Kouwenhoven is a second-year undergraduate student pursuing a Joint Honours degree in History and Environment, with a minor in Indigenous Studies. This summer, she will be working with Roots & Routes IC as a Communications and Digital Storytelling Intern. In this role, she will lead youth education groups through collaborative, relationship-based learning. She will also support Dr. Hazlewood in the development of an interactive educational website about the Chocó peoples. This work aims to broaden educational outreach on environmental and Indigenous justice movements based in Ecuador and Panama.

Abbey Sinclair,M1, School of Information Studies

Abbey Sinclair is a Master’s student in Information Studies with a passion for inclusive and community-driven solutions. She is thrilled to have been awarded the Carol and Lloyd Darlington Arts Internship Award for her upcoming summer internship with the Synergos Institute—an international organization that champions bridging leadership to build trust and collaboration across sectors. As part of the HR team, Abbey will contribute to Synergos’ inspiring mission of addressing complex global challenges.


Chris Tyler Marckmann International Social Work Summer Internship Awards

Sarah Mugeni, U2, Social Work

Sarah is a second-year Social Work student at 51Թ. This summer, she will embark on a meaningful journey back to her motherland to complete an internship with École Chez les Bien-Aimés in Rwanda. This experience is close to her heart, as it allows her to reconnect with her roots and support Rwandan youth through educational and recreational programming, while gaining hands-on experience in community engagement and empowerment through her love and commitment to Rwandan youth.


Dario and Elizabeth Merifield Galindo Internship Award

Lhassa Le Gall, U3, Psychology and Linguistics

Lhassa Le Gall Di Rienzo (He/Him) is a U3 student at 51Թmajoring in International Development with a double minor in economics and social entrepreneurship. This summer, he will be interning at theDélégation Générale du Québec in New York.Coming from a small town 30 minutes out of San Francisco, California, Lhassa is a Dual French American citizen. He is passionate about development policy decision making as well as implementation. His hobbies include traveling, journalism and photography.

Lucie Noyer, U2, Political Science

Lucie will be interning in Montreal at the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) this summer, a specialized UN agency that promotes the safe, secure, and sustainable development of international air transport. She will support the organization through research on international air law and policy, communications work, and document preparation, while also helping to organize the 2025 NGAP Global Summit. Lucie looks forward to bringing her Political Science background to the ICAO, contributing to its global initiatives, and gaining valuable skills in international cooperation and policy development.

Arianna Vallely, U1, History and Canadian Studies

Arianna will be interning at Les Jardins de Métis / Reford Gardens this summer, contributing to The Elsie Project: A Street in Time. During this internship, she will explore the transformation of Drummond Street in Montreal through the eyes of Elsie Reford, uncovering untold stories, archives, and documents. Arianna looks forward to seeing how this experience will transform her knowledge and help lead her toward pursuing law.


David Tarr and Gisele Chevrefils Arts Internship Award

Lauren Frasca, U2, HonoursAnthropology

Lauren is an Honours Anthropology student with a minor in Religious Studies. Her academic interests combine psychological, medical, and visual anthropology. This summer, she will intern at the Participatory Cultures Lab, contributing to the 13th International Cellphilm Festival and the development of the 2025 IHDW Newsletter. She looks forward to applying her anthropological training to visual and arts-based research methods, such as digital storytelling and participatory video, in socially engaged research.

Alexi Fuentes, U3, Honours Anthropology

This summer, Alexi will be interning with Arts in the Margins, a Montreal-based non-profit dedicated to helping build healthy, self-sustaining communities via the creative arts. She will work with Brique par Brique, a community organization dedicated to assisting new-Canadians, focusing on a number of racial/ethnic sub-communities in Parc-Ex. Alexi is majoring in Political Science and she looks forward to working with organizations who work with marginalized communities, artists, and organizations and are committed to social justice.


Davies Family Arts International Internship Award

Bluebell Ward, U3, History and Environment

Bluebell is a U3 at 51Թmajoring in History with a minor in Environmental Studies. This summer, she will be interning at the US Federal Courthouse in Manhattan for the Office of Pro-Se Litigation. Her work will involve research, outreach, and special projects within the department to facilitate self-representation for people without access to legal counsel. She is looking forward to working with practiced lawyers while making a difference in her community.


Dean of Arts Development Fund

Sean Chen, U1, English Literature and Political Science

Sean Chen will intern at Poetry Matters, a 51Թ English Department initiative which aims to enrich conversations and communities surrounding poetry. Working both in Montreal as well as in Ottawa, he will be researching the poetry and career of Patrick Anderson, a poet associated with 51Թand Montreal. As a student and enthusiast of English literature, Sean hopes that this research further broadens his perspective on what it means to be a poet.

Cameron Davies, U1, Classical Studies

Cameron is a first-year Arts and Science student pursuing major concentrations in Classics and Biology. This summer, he will intern at the Roman Baths, in Bath, United Kingdom. Throughout the internship, he will develop his historical interpretation and communication skills by engaging with both ancient Roman history and the international public. He is excited to explore the many different departments the Baths have to offer and to delve deeper into this period of history.

Duddy-Hayashibara Mia, U1, Psychology and Anthropology

Mia is a second-year student studying Psychology and Anthropology. This summer, they are excited to intern with the Suoni Per Il Popolo festival team. They are especially looking forward to gaining hands-on experience in the behind-the-scenes aspects of event coordination while immersing themselves in the festival’s diverse musical and cultural programming. With a background in climate justice organizing and community radio, Mia is ready to apply their skills to support the promotion and production of the festival.

OcéaneFilion, U2, History and Anthropology

Océane Filion is a second-year Anthropology and History major focusing on archaeology. This summer, she will be interning with the Maski Archaeological Project (MAP), a multidisciplinary research initiative investigating social and environmental histories from the Neolithic through Medieval periods (3000 BCE – 1600 CE) at the Maski settlement in Karnataka, South India. Passionate about South Asian archaeology and culture, Océane looks forward to gaining hands-on fieldwork experience in this part of the world.

Kiera Henry, U3, Honours History

Kiera will be interning with the 78th Fraser Highlanders, a Montreal-based historical organization that conducts research on the Highland soldiers during and past their service. She is excited to work on increasing the organization’s information accessibility and looking forward to conducting in-person archival research for an upcoming event.

Enid Kohler, U1, Honours History and Communications Studies

Enid will be interning at the Montreal-based human rights and social justice magazine The Upstream Journal this summer. Enid will produce an article, podcast episode and promotional video about a human rights issue not often covered in mainstream news media outlets throughout her internship. A second-year History and Communication Studies student, Enid is eager to gain practical journalism experience to further her goal of a career in storytelling through journalism.

Eilah Kolvin, U2, Political Science

Eilah Kolvin is a U2 student majoring in Political Science, with minors in French Language and Latin American and Caribbean Studies. This summer, she will be completing an internship at the Fawcett Society, a charity in the United Kingdom which campaigns for women’s rights. Eilah is excited to be working on a variety of projects for the Fawcett Society, including carrying out research on creating feminist AI and working with the Royal Institute of British Architects to support women in architecture.

Layla Lamrani, U3, Honours Political Science

Layla Lamrani is an Honours Political Science student with a Minor in International Development. Passionate about international affairs, journalism, and social justice, she will intern this summer with the Délégation Générale du Québec in New York City. Layla looks forward to exploring Quebec’s diplomatic interests in the United States and learning more about trade, cultural affairs, and international partnerships. She is excited to contribute to Quebec’s presence on the international stage.

Laika Misata, U2,Liberal Arts

Laika is a second-year student at 51Թ, currently majoring in Liberal Arts and minoring in East Asian Languages & Literature. This will be its first summer interning through the Arts Internship Office, as an intern for Exposures Montreal’s second trans film festival. With a passion for history, art, and gender studies, she is looking forward to cultivating a community where often silenced voices can be heard, and supporting the spread of realistic, empowering representations of trans and queer culture, issues, and identities.

Milla Simms, U1, Political Science

Milla Simms is a first-year Political Science student minoring in Economics. This summer, she will be interning at the Roundtable for Black History Month, a Montreal-based non-profit organization which promotes the study and discussion of the history of Black communities. As an intern, Milla will create a virtual directory of works from past exhibitions and conduct iconographic historical research. She resonates with TMHN’s mission and is looking forward to learning with a cultural group outside her own.

Coco Usher, U3, English Literature and Political Science

This summer, Coco will intern in Montreal with Poetry Matters, an initiative aimed at fostering conversation and research on cultures in poetry. Coco is currently a third year English and Political Science student. She looks forward to developing her archival research skills and delving into Montreal’s rich poetic history.

Jeanne Vanbremeersch, U3, International Development Studies and Political Science

Jeanne Vanbremeersch ( she/her ) is an arts student at 51Թuniversity. Originally from Paris ( France ), she is double majoring in political science and international development. Strongly invested in international cooperation and social concerns, she is looking forward to positively impact Montreal communities through her internship at Éduconnexion.


Faculty of Arts Action Plan to Address Anti-Black Racism Fund

Mary Kellia Abisola Usanase, U2, International Development Studies

Kellia Abisola Usanase is a second-year student pursuing a B.A. in International Development with minors in African Studies and Psychology. This summer, she will intern with the Campaign for Female Education (CAMFED), an international NGO dedicated to tackle the
pressing challenges of poverty and gender that limit education and opportunities for women in Africa. Driven by a desire to make a positive impact, Kellia is eager to contribute to CAMFED's mission through meaningful research and innovative strategies aimed at creating lasting social change.

Moyọ Alabi, U1, Honours English Literature and Psychology

Moyọ Alabi is a second-year Honours English Literature and Psychology student at McGill. This summer, she is working with Arts in the Margins through an ARIA internship, contributing to research on Black cultural production and performance. Her academic interests include cultural criticism, race, and written media. Outside of the classroom, Moyọ is active in student life, holding leadership roles in the Black Students’ Network and the Department of English Students’ Association.

Asia Douglas, U2, International Development Studies

Asia Douglas is a third-year student at 51Թ majoring in International Development with a minor in Social Entrepreneurship. She will be interning at DESTA Black Youth Network, supporting initiatives that empower Black youth in Montreal through entrepreneurship, education, and community development. With a passion for equity and a background in digital storytelling, Asia will contribute to social media campaigns, storytelling projects, and outreach efforts that amplify youth voices and promote leadership, creativity, and lasting social impact.

Alicia Granger, U1, International Development Studies and Economics

Alicia is pursuing a double major in International Development Studies and Economics. She is particularly interested in how political institutions influence poverty alleviation and growth. Alicia will be interning in Accra with the Ghana Center for Democratic Development, a think-tank dedicated to promoting democracy and strengthening accountability in Africa. Through this opportunity, Alicia aims to enhance her understanding of democracy and good governance in Ghana and across the African continent by contributing to data-driven research.


Faculty of Arts Internship Award

Emma Beckman, M1, Masters of Information Studies

Emma will be an archival intern for the Suoni Per Il Popolo music festival in Montreal, Quebec. She is currently pursuing a degree in the Masters of Information Studies program. This internship will allow her to gain first-hand experience archiving posters for the festival’s 25th anniversary and working for a large music festival. She is looking forward to this opportunity to combine her interest in archival work with her passion for live music.

Nina Gardes, U1, Political Science

Nina will intern at Rolland Sauvé Service Juridique (RSSJ), a law firm specializing in real estate law, business law, banking law, and commercial litigation. She has been involved in various initiatives on and off campus, including her work with the Journal for Human Rights at McGill. Her experience at RSSJ will deepen her understanding of legal processes in Quebec, which will prove invaluable as she pursues a law degree with an interest in civil and commercial law.

Alyssa Korol-Filbey, U3, Psychology

Alyssa Korol-Filbey is a third-year Psychology student minoring in Latin American and Caribbean Studies. This summer, she will be interning with the Latin American News Digest. Combining her passion for language with her academic background, she will be aggregating and translating news from across Latin America. As an intern, she looks forward to deepening her understanding of the region, engaging with themes of social justice, and creating a self-directed article with her own byline.

Mia Allemano-Rho, U1, Anthropology and Gender, Sexuality, Feminist and Social Justice Studies

Mia is U1 double-major in Anthropology and Gender, Sexuality, Feminist and Social Justice Studies. This summer, she will be engaging in historical research for the Jardins de Métis / Reford Gardens’ Elsie Project, based on the Gaspé Peninsula. The project aims to document the life of Elsie Reford, who founded the Gardens in 1926. Mia will be researching the year 1926 through the lens of a garden enthusiast, with a focus on Montreal and Canada.

Emily Magajna, PhD, English

Emily will be interning at the Creative Arts Foundation of Canada (CAFC). The CAFC is an NGO committed to bringing communities together through art and uplifting artists from all walks of life. Emily will be working as a grant-writer and as a general team member, sitting in on meetings and making suggestions. As a disability in literature scholar, Emily hopes to gain a deeper understanding of how disenfranchised groups find platforms for their stories.

Cirdan Monteith, U2, English

Cirdan Monteith is a third year Drama and Theatre Major and Religious Studies minor at McGill. Her passion for the arts and costume design fuel her excitement about her internship position at 51Թ participating in the renewal of the costume collection. This summer, she will organize the costume storage space, conduct site visits to costume facilities around Montreal, curate the remaining stock and source and create pieces to fill the collection.

Amy Qi,U1, Cognitive Science

Amy Qi is a rising second-year Cognitive Science student with an interest in the intersection between technology and law. This summer, she will be interning at Fasken LLP, an international business law firm, in the Ottawa office’s Technology, Media, and Telecommunications group. Her work will focus on intellectual property law, where she looks forward to contributing positively while gaining deeper insight into the legal field.

Jade Bréchard, Political Science and International Development

Jade Brechard, a French student in her third year at 51Թ, will be interning at Edmond de Rothschild in Paris this summer, within the Asset Management team, focusing on ESG-related projects. This is her second internship funded by the Faculty of Arts Internship Awards, last year, she interned at the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in Paris. Mina Lucacher (she/her/elle) is a French/American uninvited immigrant settler to Turtle Island. After many years away from Montreal, she returned in September 2024 to pursue her MSW. Nina Engel is a second-year student majoring in Economics and minoring in Management. This summer, she will be interning at the European Delegation to Canada in the Trade and Economic Section. She is beyond excited to dive into the public diplomacy sector and learn more about how trade is conducted on an international level. During her internship, she will be supporting the Delegation by drafting reports for EU headquarters and member states, prepare speaking point for Delegation officials and take meeting minutes.

Emma Orshanski, U3, Political Science & Philosophy

Emma is a second year Political Science and Philosophy student from Montréal. She willbe interning at Éduconnexion, a nonprofit organization based in Montréal, Québec, which aims to promote active and responsible citizenship, advocating for social and environmental justice through education and citizen participation. Emma will be working as a project manager, focused on conducting research and planning future activities. She will also be invited to participate in public events and training, including the conference "Urbanité et jeunes marginalisés : de la confrontation à la bienveillance" organized on May 8, 2025, by Café-Jeunesse Multiculturel and the Research Center on Educational and Community Services (CRSEC) at the University of Ottawa.

Mira Reichenbach, U3, Political Science and Economics

Mira will be interning at Infinithéâtre, the Tiohtià:ke/Montréal based theatre that develops, publishes and produces plays written or adapted by Québec artists. She will specifically be working for InfiniPRESS, the Infinithéâtre in-house publisher. Mira is excited to learn how the world of theatre and the process of publishing operates, and she hopes to bring her background in political science into her work in the arts world.

Chloe Sproule, U3, Honours English Cultural Studies

Chloe will be joining Véhicule Press, an independent publisher of Canadian literature and poetry, as an editorial intern this summer. She will be proofreading, copy-editing, fact-checking, and keyboarding manuscripts as they progress from acquisition to publication, as well as tabling at launch parties. A long-term admirer of and intermittent participant in Montreal’s buzzing literary scene, Chloe hopes to deepen her engagement with local and historic institutions of Canadian arts and culture.

Brandon Sun, U3, Computer Science

Brandon Sun is a third-year student pursuing his B.A. in Computer Science with a minor in East Asian Language & Literature. This summer, he will be interning at Arts East-West (Korean Film Festival Canada) in Montréal. With an interest in film, culture, and technology, he is eager to contribute to the 12th Korean Film Festival by supporting web management, social media outreach, and event coordination, while gaining insight into non-profit arts programming and cultural exchange initiatives.


Vanasse Wilbert International Experience Internship

Thelma Caye, U3, Hispanic Studies

Thelma Caye, a third-year student majoring in Hispanic Studies with minors in Political Science and Communication Studies, is set to join Angkor Hospital for Children (AHC) in Siem Reap, Cambodia, for a 10-week internship. As part of the hospital’s international fundraising team, she will conduct donor research, draft funding proposals, and support the creation of a U.S.-based donor database using tools like CauseIQ and Salesforce. Thelma looks forward to strengthening her communication and research skills while contributing to AHC’s mission of delivering high-quality pediatric care to underserved communities. During her time on site in Cambodia, she will also engage directly with hospital staff and patients, gaining firsthand insight into global health work and nonprofit development.

Laia Charles Saigne, U2, Political Science

Laia, a French student from Barcelona, will be interning this summer at the regional office of the United Nations Population Fund in Panama. As part of the Communications team, shelooks forward to applying the knowledge she has gained through her studies in Political
Science and Management. With aspirations of a career in foreign affairs, she hopes to gain firsthand experience in international relations while immersing herself in the local culture and improving her Spanish.

Yzabel Cue, U1, Political Science & East Asian Studies

Yzabel Cue, a first-year student majoring in both Political Science and East Asian Studies, will work with the regional office the United Nations World Food Programme based in Panama. As an intern, she will help with translation, media research and work with various digital mediums. She intends to gain a deeper understanding of international organisations in a specific regional context and work on developing linguistic and technical skills to contribute to the organization’s online presence.

AbigailFrancis, U2, Political Science & English

Abby is a Political Science and English-Cultural Studies double major and student-athlete who will be interning in Panama City, Panama at the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA), an IGO that supports global democratic development and election access. She looks forward to contributing to their new English publications program and working in the gender inclusion department. Passionate about social justice, systems of oppression, and women’s rights, Abby hopes this experience will prepare her for a future international career.

Twyla Pittson, U3, International Development Studies & History

Twyla is in her final year at 51Թ, pursuing a double major in International Development and History. Twyla will be interning with the Post Conflict Research Centre in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, where she looks forward to gaining hands-on experience in human rights advocacy and transitional justice. Through this opportunity, Twyla hopes to deepen her understanding of grassroots reconciliation efforts and explore the long-term impacts of conflict on communities.

Jules Rossen, M1, Social Work

Juliann will be completing her international internship with the Watye Ki Gen (“We Have Hope”) organization in Gulu, Uganda. Watye Ki Gen is an organization supporting children who were born in captivity during the war in Northern Uganda. Here, Juliann with be supporting initiatives that facilitate community building, direct workshops with the youth, and macro-level work with report writing and research initiatives. Due to her past experience supporting vulnerable communities across Canada, she looks forward to developing her skills further with this incredible organization.

Haya Abdelmeguid, U2, Honours Political Science

Haya Abdelmeguid is a second-year 51Թstudent pursuing an Honours Political Science degree and minoring in World Islamic and Middle East Studies. Driven by a passion to contribute to upholding international human rights law, she is especially interested in forced displacement and refugee protection. This summer, she will intern at UNHCR Montréal, conducting research, translating documents, analyzing data, and more. She looks forward to exploring the intersection of media portrayal, governance, and refugee asylum facilitation.

Susana Baquero Salah, U3, Political Science

Susana is an international student f rom Bogotá, Colombia. This summer, she will be interning for the Canadian Program at Equitas in Montréal, a nonprofit organization that aims to advance equality, social justice, and respect for human dignity through human rights education. As an intern, Susana will engage in program management and communications, supporting the coordination and implementation of training sessions and events, as well as the development of educational tools in English and French.

Mariana Santibañez Rosales, U3, Sociology

Mariana Santibañez Rosales (she/her) is an international student at 51Թfrom Mexico. She’s in the last year of her Sociology degree, completing a double minor in Communication Studies and English Literature. After graduation, she hopes to go into research that will give voice to the experiences and challenges of Latin American migrant communities, with particular focus on feminist and digital media studies. Outside of her research, she enjoys exploring the hidden spots of Montréal.

Sarah Mugeni, U2, Social Work

Sarah is a second-year Social Work student at 51Թ. This summer, she will embark on a meaningful journey back to her motherland to complete an internship with École Chez les Bien-Aimés in Rwanda. This experience is close to her heart, as it allows her to reconnect with her roots and support Rwandan youth through educational and recreational programming, while gaining hands-on experience in community engagement and empowerment through her love and commitment to Rwandan youth.


Wiltzer Internship Award

Nour AliyahAttié, U2, English

Nour Aliyah will intern at the Segal Centre. While at the theatre company, she will learn and participate in the strategic planning and execution of marketing campaigns for multiple productions. She will also assist in creating digital content ranging from copywriting to graphic design coordination while learning about media relations and how to promote theatrical productions through press releases, interviews, and outreach efforts.

Isaac TaniBercuvitz, U1, Geography

Tani is a U1 student from Montreal who will be interning at the Museum of Jewish Montreal this summer, primarily working in archives and research. He will also be giving tours to visitors of the museum around parts of Montreal that showcase the Jewish history of the city. Tani hopes that this internship will give him experience in doing research and will help engage him with theJewish community in Montreal.
