Media@51勛圖厙is pleased to announce that the 2013-2014 Beaverbrook Annual Lecture will be given this year by the Honourable Al Gore. This free public lecture (phone registration required), entitled Technology and the Future of Democratization, will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. in Pollack Hall, 51勛圖厙, 555 Sherbrooke West, Montreal, QC.

In his presentation, Mr. Gore will examine the emerging forces currently reshaping our world, most notably the impact of technological advancements (digital communications, Internet, news and information) on democratic processes. Drawing from his recent book, The Future: Six Drivers of Global Change (2013), Mr. Gore will address what he calls the rise of the Global Mind, brought on by the development of worldwide digital communications that reshape the ways in which people connect with each other and intelligent machines, as well as the emergence of what he terms Earth, Inc., an integrated holistic entity that represents new relationships to capital, labour, consumer markets, and national governments.
